Mimi Elmer, LICSW
Mimi Elmer has been a psychotherapist at Focus since 1976, specializing
in the treatment of adults. Her areas of expertise include bereavement,
trauma, relationship issues and negotiating developmental transitions.
She has worked extensively with the problems experienced by women
and men from dysfunctional families. In addition, Ms. Elmer is co-founder
of 'After Suicide' which offers short-term psychotherapy groups,
consultation to organizations, and individual counseling for survivors

Deborah Haynor, LICSW
Deborah Haynor draws from her extensive training and experience
both in individual and family therapy. A member of Focus since 1977,
she has also been an adjunct professor at the Boston University
School of Social Work, and a consultant at the Fenway Community
Health Center. Ms. Haynor is known particularly for her clinical
work with gay, lesbian and heterosexual couples. She has a special
interest in working with the new challenges and opportunities that
are inspired by bringing children into gay and lesbian families,
as well as those that come about when a couple or family become

John Hubbell, LICSW
John Hubbell has worked with adults, couples, families and children
since he joined Focus in 1987. He works extensively with men and
women who have been victims of sexual abuse, and those who struggle
with growing up in dysfunctional faimilies. He has also developed
a specialty of working with men, particularly in the area of sexual
addiction and compulsions. He runs time-limited groups on this topic
and provides clinical consultation and supervision. Contact John

Judy Hunt, LICSW
Judy Hunt, LICSW joined FOCUS in 2007. For the last 25 years, Ms. Hunt’s clinical practice has focused on working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including outpatient mental health, inpatient psychiatry and
pediatrics. She provides individual therapy, play therapy, parent-child therapy, parent consultation and collaboration with other caregivers.
Her experiences include working with a wide variety of challenges and frustrations that children and families may face. Initial concerns may include: childhood anxiety, school adjustment, learning differences, the impact of physical illness, behavioral and emotional struggles, family reconfiguration, traumatic exposure, loss, adoption and identity issues.
In her collaboration with parents, guardians, and other caregivers, Ms. Hunt strives to support childrens' developmental journeys. With this in mind, she encourages individuals and families to draw upon and develop sources of support and to nurture an empathic stance toward themselves, their children and others.

Deborah Silverstein, LICSW
Deborah Silverstein has been in practice at Focus since 1975. She
maintains a general practice with an ongoing interest in women's
development and a commitment to assisting men and women in their
recovery from childhood trauma and addictive and self-destructive
behaviors. Ms. Silverstein has a special interest in working with
artists; she also specializes in infertility counseling and in working
with prospective adoptive parents as well as adoptees and adoptive
parents and families. She has lectured and published on the topics
of infertility and adoption, including issues related to open adoption,
and is a past president of RESOLVE of the Bay State. Contact Deborah
