Enhancing The Social and Emotional Well Being of Infants and Their Caregivers

Nurturing relationships with caregivers are essential for babies and toddlers. Significant caregivers may be parents, grandparents, and others, related or unrelated, paid or unpaid. More than 40 years of research affirms that very young children grow and thrive in close and dependable relationships, suffer in the absence of nurturing relationships, and recover remarkably in their development when nurturing relationships are provided or restored. Infant mental health supports the evolving relationships of infants and toddlers with their parents and others.
